Matahari

Never do like the original version by Berlian Hutauruk much, cause it sounds so old-fashioned (yea, the song itself is old). But this one's totally a masterpiece. Erwin Gutawa did a stunning ethnical arrangement. Chrisye gave his soothing voice into it. When comes the part when he is humming and Aning Katamsi takes the verse, the song escalates to such a rich and peaceful listening moment.

Musim berlalu resah menanti
Matahari pagi bersinar gelisah
Kini semua bukan milikku
Musim itu telah berlalu
Matahari segera berganti

Dimana kau timbun daun yang layu
Makin gelisah aku menanti matahari
Dalam rimba kabut pagi
Sampai kapankah aku harus menanti

Awan yang hitam tenggelam dalam dekapan
Daun yang layu berguguran di pangkuan

Kapan badai pasti berlalu
Resah aku menunggu
Kapan badai pasti berlalu
Badai pasti berlalu

Love Monologues

I do not love you as if you were a salt rose, or topaz, or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off. I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul. I love you as the plant that never blooms but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers; thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance, risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body. I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride. So I love you because I know no other way than this: where I does not exist, nor you; so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that when your eyes close, I fall asleep.

~ (Pablo Neruda's Sonnet XVII, as quoted by Robin Williams in "Patch Adams") ~

Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.

Shout to the Lord

One of my favourite Don Moen's song. I got it American Idol Top 8's version. As I recall correctly, this was the first time on American Idol for a gospel song.

Oh .. there's David Cook! That's David Archuleta! Woohooo .. that's Michael Johns!! Aaaa .. such a good memory.

On Idol Gives Back, 9 April 2008.

And since there were some major complaints of the replacement of "My Jesus" into "My Shepherd", they sang it again the next day. This time, Jesus' name roared.

I love you guys for singing it. And Carly, you're awesome!
