Honesty in A Whole New Level

Mat's report card said,

"Mathieu is being and honest boy these days. He always rises his hand when teacher ask who's not being good today, and will tell teachers the not good thing he did."

Huh. Kinda bring honesty to a different level, he did.

A Glee-ful Proposal

"I want to marry you, someday. Until then, will you accept this promise ring? If you accept, this ring will symbolize my promise to you to be true, to never pressure you to do anything more than kiss, to listen to your problems, to tell you when you have food in your teeth or eye gunk, to come over to your house whenever you need something super heavy moved around."

Sea of Dreams

I've always dreamed of going to Disneyland around the world. A dream that may not see any light in my life, but hey, a dream is a dream. (Well, I did go to Hong Kong Disneyland, though. But it has never been enough. As until now I still can't put it in words about those attractions).

A couple of months ago, I've found this advertisement of Tokyo DisneySea (opened in September 2001). The ad was created to celebrate its 5th Anniversary. I really, really love everything about this ad.

It creates such a nostalgic feeling about love. And the atmosphere is dreamy. The actress in particular, is great. Always one step behind his man, she looked up to him in admiration and yearning. When he finally held her hand at the end, the happiness in her smile was so sweet and touching. People always say that Disneyland is a theme-park for children. Not for me. And this ad has proven that. This is a love story, triggered by the magic of this place. It's an extraordinary piece of marketing wrapped in delicate art. I am a sappy person. There's always a big lump in my throat whenever I replay this ad. And more than ever, I really want to go there someday. With my family.

The song "Sea of Dreams" stands out on its own. Great music, great voice.

SEA OF DREAMS

sunao ni warau sono toki dake
kokoro no tobira ga hiraku
anata to tomo ni mitsumete iru
nanatsu no umi e to shiawase afurete

Sea of dreams Sea of wonder
Sea of dreams

warau tame ni toki ni naite
kokoro no tsubasa wo hirake
kaze matoi odoru aoi kaito
sora takaku jiyuu wo egaite habataku

Sea of dreams Sea of wonder
Sea of dreams

kaze wo yobe ho wo agete kogidase
namida ga ame ni nureru hi mo
shiawase wo sagashite yuku tsuyosa wo
Forever
kono mune ni daite yukou Forever
Dreamer
kakageru sono hata no namae wa Dreamer

Oh dreams Sea of wonder
Sea of dreams

Sailing free on a sea of dreams, you and me
Sailing free on a sea of dreams

Sailing free on a sea of dreams

Free translation:
Just that time when you laugh gently
With you whom the door of heart opens
With you, you stare
Happiness overflowing to seven seas

Sea of dreams, sea of wonder
Sea of dreams
As for dream when laughing gently, those which understand

In order to laugh crying the time
Opening wing of heart
The blue kite where the wind mark it is and dances
The sky drawing freedom high, it flaps

Sea of dreams, sea of wonder
Sea of dreams
As for the tear those which are let flow in order to laugh gently

Call the wind lifting the sail, start rowing
The day when the tear gets wet to the rain
The strength which keeps searching happiness
Which it probably will keep holding in this chest Forever
As for name of that flag which it puts out Dreamer

Oh dreams, sea of wonder
Sea of dreams
As for dream those which are drawn in order to laugh gently

Sailing free on a sea of dreams, you and me
Sailing free on a sea of dreams

Sailing free on a sea of dreams

We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day. ~Edith Lovejoy Pierce
