Dubai: Day #4 Where's Aladdin?

SOUK MADINAT JUMEIRAH

By now we already knew that whenever we heard the word "souk", we could expect to see some Arabic-style building, or traditional market as it was literally the meaning of the word.

Similar to Souk Al Bahar with its view of Burj Khalifa - one of Dubai's landmark, Souk Madinat Jumeirah was (is) a shopping, dining and entertainment center with a winning view of Burj Al Arab - that other Dubai's landmark.

However, Souk Madinat Jumeirah was not just ordinary. It was a part of Madinat Jumeirah Resort (a.k.a. The Arabian Resort of Dubai, a 5-star luxurious resort that resembled a traditional Arabian town), where it could bring us to the sense of being in Aladdin movie.

What I loved most, even though it was so rustic, the interior was bright with natural lighting.  Many terraces, alleys, islands, open-air restaurants, waterfront cafes, and lots of souvenir shops. Lucky it rarely rained in Dubai.

Once upon a time, Aladdin met Princess Jasmine at this market
Aladdin ran this way with the food he stole.  I supposed.
Prince Ali Ababwa had 60 elephants, y' know?
Outdoor cafe
Tempting, colorful souvenir shop
Keep calm and smoke shisha
Need constant reminders: those stuffs are pricey
Spot the Big Boss in this picture
The Theater
Have yourself a classy Belgian Christmas
Alongside cute camels
Can you spot me taking pictures of the ceiling?
Sand art on a whole new level - the mind blowing level.
Instead of buying one of these ..
.. let's just watch how the artist painted the sand.
Narcissism is a bliss
Look what Mat found.  So flattered.
Madinat Jumeirah the Arabian Resort in a frame ..

I found that stunning Souk Madinat Jumeirah picture on sale, and since I got too much time in my hands, I browsed for the real picture on net.

.. the largest resort in UAE, spreading over 40 hectares of landscapes and gardens

So that's how the resort looked like in the evening. The only thing missing in the picture was Aladdin, the man himself.

But he might be just out of the frame flying on his magic carpet, showing people this whole new world.

Or maybe he was the photographer.

.. to be continued to Day #4 Open Water
