THE DUBAI MALL
|
The world's largest shopping mall by total area. |
Not much to say except this mall was huge. Size did matter in Dubai. We spent our time in this mall not for shopping, but for taking pictures - we stopped at every corner. Snap, snap, snap. The food corner, the toilet, the escalator, the fire extinguisher. Snap. We did meet my sister after her appointment, and she recalled browsing the stores for roughly four hours just to see what this mall had to offer. Since we knew with our rate, we wouldn't go anywhere that fast, so we just took the brochure and browsed the 1,200+ stores from there. Done in minutes.
Some of the pics we captured:

The Waterfall |
|
30 metres in diameter and 24 metres high, |
|
with sculptures of human divers made of fiberglass, |
|
covering the entire height of the mall (all four levels). |
|
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo |

No idea why all pictures appeared ghostly |

It might be caused by confused lens, facing the .. |

Paper butterflies dropping from the ceiling |

This art decor set a mark at fashion brand section in the mall. |
Christmas was definitely coming. Some stores were already celebrating.
|
Automatic water and soap dispenser |
|
Baby-stroller friendly |

Lost in the mall that covered 1,124,000 m2 area. |
Here at the Lower Ground level, there's Reception Area of Burj Khalifa Observation Deck. People were queuing to reach
At the Top. We approached the ticket box and found that they had sold out all tickets for today and tomorrow.
Of course we could always buy tickets via online. But here's the tips: Once we bought the AED 125 ticket in advance, it would be our loss if the sky were hazy when we went up there. We would want it to be as clear as possible to enjoy the view. So it was suggested that when we could see skyscrapers from a far distance, we walked-in to the mall to purchase our ticket for the earliest hour available for the day.
But then, we needed pure luck to follow the tips. Especially at this time of the year, when holiday was starting. Most tourists would want to experience it. It was one of the "must-see" attraction in Dubai.
We decided to try our luck the next time we revisited this mall. Sure we would come back. My sis got Mat a new school bag from Pottery Barn Kids, which we needed to pick up in the next five days.
And seeing this promotional video, why would we not be coming back to The Dubai Mall?
We still had a fountain show to catch.
.. to be continued to Day #3 The Fountain Catchers.

A picture paints a thousand words. In my case, I took the pictures first and added a few words later. Qiqiqiqi.
